ABOUT THE COUNTRY
A G20 Economy Reopening Its Doors to Investors
The economic picture has shifted quickly over the past couple of years. Under President Javier Milei, Argentina moved from chronic fiscal deficits to a budget surplus and brought down inflation that had been running out of control for most of the past decade.
The country sits in the G20, holds major reserves in energy, lithium, and agricultural land, and is now actively courting the kind of long-term foreign capital that the new citizenship by investment framework is part of.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Argentina Citizenship by Investment
The Ministry of Economy has not yet published a minimum investment figure or a confirmed list of qualifying sectors, and a tender meant to bring in a private operator to help launch the program was cancelled in April 2026. A revised rollout plan is in progress, with no confirmed date yet for when applications will open.
Please Note: Argentina's citizenship by investment program is not yet open for applications. The legal framework is in place, but investment thresholds, qualifying sectors, and the application process are still being finalized by the Ministry of Economy. This page will be updated as official details are confirmed. For the latest program developments or to register your interest, contact UNO Capital today.

APPLICATION PROCESS
How the Application Process Works
Argentina's program isn't accepting applications yet, so there's no live process to walk through. What follows comes directly from the mechanics laid out in the decree itself, the parts of the process that are actually written into law already.
Eligibility Assessment and Onboarding
Submission and Due Diligence
Approval and Investment
Citizenship and Passport Issuance

APPLICANT
Who Can Apply
Argentina’s full eligibility criteria haven’t been published yet. Based on the decree, applicants will need to demonstrate a qualifying investment as defined by forthcoming Ministry of Economy rules and pass background checks covering financial, criminal, and security history. No residency in Argentina, prior or ongoing, is required to apply.
Alongside program-specific requirements, the following apply to all applicants as standard:
- Clean Criminal Record
Applicants must have no criminal record. Background checks are coordinated across multiple government agencies as part of the review process. - Due Diligence Clearance
All applicants must successfully pass the government’s due diligence checks, which cover financial, security, and immigration history. - Proof of Source of Funds
Applicants must provide documented evidence that the investment funds have been legally obtained. This is a mandatory part of the application process. - Compliance and Documentation
All compliance and documentation requirements set out by the relevant authorities must be met in full before an application can proceed.

Who You Can Bring Along
- The decree doesn’t yet specify which family members can be included on an application.
- Most comparable programs extend coverage to a spouse and dependent children, and industry expectation is that Argentina’s program will follow a similar pattern.
- That expectation hasn’t been confirmed in any published regulation so far, so treat it as likely, not guaranteed.

How Long the Process Takes
- The one timeline that’s actually fixed in law is the 30-business day window Argentina’s migration authority has to decide on an application once it’s under formal review.
- What isn’t fixed is when that clock starts, since the application portal itself isn’t open.
- Total time from interest to passport depends on regulations that are still being written.

Argentina Citizenship by Investment – FAQs
How much will I need to invest?
Not officially confirmed. Industry estimates point to a threshold near USD 500,000, but that figure comes from outside advisory projections, not government regulation.
Do I need to live in Argentina before applying?
No. The program is specifically designed to waive the standard residency requirement for naturalization.
Can my family be included?
Likely, but not yet confirmed in published regulations. Comparable programs in other countries typically include a spouse and dependent children, and that pattern is expected here.
Is Argentina's citizenship by investment program open for applications?
No. The legal framework exists through Decree 524/2025, but the Ministry of Economy hasn’t published final investment rules, and a tender meant to help launch the program was cancelled in April 2026. A revised rollout is in progress.
How long does the process take?
Once an application is under formal review, Argentine migration authorities are required by law to decide within 30 business days. The total timeline from initial interest to citizenship depends on rules that haven’t been finalized yet, including when the application window itself opens.
Does Argentina allow dual citizenship?
Yes. Argentina recognizes dual nationality and doesn’t require new citizens to renounce their existing passport.
Can UNO Capital submit an application on my behalf?
Not yet. Argentina hasn’t opened applications or designated an official process for authorized agents. This page exists to track the program’s progress. Once the rules are confirmed, we’ll update it with what the actual application pathway looks like.
What does Argentine citizenship offer that other passports don't?
A few things stand out regardless of how the investment program shakes out. Broad visa-free access, free movement across Mercosur countries, and access to the US E-2 investor visa through Argentina’s existing treaty with the United States. None of these depends on the new program. They come with Argentine citizenship generally.
